Well, I am just a bit tardy getting my post up today... sorry! We are experiencing our 4th major snow storm in about a month - very unusual for our part of Virginia. My kids have been out of school all week and I am very behind! Can anyone relate?!
On to my Fabulous Friday project... this week on the Sisters in Stamping blog we decided to focus on the punches in our Occasions mini and Sale-a-Bration catalogs. I decided to use the extra large flower punch to create my project:
What do you think?
I used a single flower on all of my Love Notes-sized cards (3"x3") using my favorite DSP this week - the Pink Flamingo pack. I embellished with a 5/16" chocolate chip brad and attached it to a piece of 5/8" old olive ribbon. It was tied around a mat of summer sun cardstock that was run through my Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots textured impressions folder and adhered to a 6" x 3" piece of whisper white cardstock folded in half to create the card base. I love these little cards - they're great to add to a gift bag or just to send a little love note to someone special! And if you start with a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock you can get 8 cards out of one sheet!!
Here is a close-up of the flower - I punched out 7 of them and scrunched them all up, layered them together and held them together with the flower brad in the middle. This is a technique that is part of the Double Dog Dare Challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week - once again told to me by my sister Cindy Blekas. A tutorial for creating this flower can be found on Mercy Kerin's blog here. I also just found out that this qualifies for the Stampin' Royalty challenge #5 this week - to create an anything-but-a-card project. You'll find that blog post here.
Since the flower was so 3-d, I decided to embellish a Big Shot box rather than putting it onto a card that I knew I wouldn't be able to mail. The brad was put right through the ribbon so I could wrap it around my box. To do that, I created a box using the Box #2 Big Shot XL die and instead of closing it, I punched an oval in the lid and left it standing up. It holds the Love Notes perfectly!! This is a great little project that I will be teaching in my "I'm A Big Shot" class later this month. There are still spots available if you'd like to attend! Details can be found by clicking on the calendar on the sidebar of this blog.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you like my take on using a punch from the Occasions mini! Please be sure and visit the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what everyone else came up with... I got a sneak peek and they're beautiful creations! I'll be back tomorrow to share my swaps from my downline meeting last night - the theme was Chocolate so they're really great!!

Hey Debbie! This is gorgeous! I love the flower! It is the perfect addition to dress up the box! I've never thought to use that box#2 to hold cards! Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for playing with us at SR!

I think that this is the best version of this flower I've seen yet. Very cute - we're so glad you came to play at Stampin' Royalty.
