It has been quite a busy summer and now my kids are ready to head back to school on Monday. What perfect timing for our theme this week on the Sisters in Stamping blog - we are featuring back-to-school projects! I decided to do a matching notebook, pen and pencil holder with our fun Berry Blossoms DSP. Did you know that all of our $10.95 DSP packs are on special this month - buy 3, get 1 free? And you can mix and match - they don't have to be 3 of the same ones!! My daughters are required to bring composition notebooks to school, why not make them pretty?! And right now they are priced right, too.
Here is a close-up of my notebook - I used my Big Shot and Circle Scallops #2 bigz die along with the Serif Essentials alphabet die to personalize it with an "N" for Naylor (or "Notes" in case I give it away). I had to add a little flower - it was created using the boho blossoms punch. I distressed the card stock to give the flower more dimension and added a little bling to the center with a large rhinestone accent. I pulled in the wisteria wonder in the DSP with a piece of the ruffled ribbon... I have got to tell you that I *love* this ribbon! It is so frilly and adds such a nice texture.
Here is my pencil holder - I picked it up at the dollar store knowing I could easily cover it with a strip of DSP and some sticky strip. Again, I embellished with the ruffled ribbon - this time in lucky limeade.
Last but not least I altered an RSVP pen and some 1" binder clips with left over pieces of DSP that I had using sticky strip. All of these projects were created using just one sheet of DSP! I did cover the back of my notebook with a piece of lucky limeade card stock to ensure that I had enough DSP for all of the projects. I only have one package of this DSP (more on order!) and couldn't bear to cut both pieces!! The pieces of DSP with the white tear drops are the reverse side of this piece of DSP.
So, with a little effort you can turn ordinary school supplies into fabulous one-of-a-kind supplies for your kids. For even more inspiration with our back-to-school theme be sure and visit the Sisters in Stamping blog after Noon EST today!
Thanks for stopping by... I am headed to Charlotte, North Carolina today with a large group of my downline to attend a Stampin' Up! Regional event tomorrow. Wooooo hooooo! Check back this weekend to see photos of my swap cards and highlights. And if you're going to be there on Saturday, come find me so we can trade cardfronts!!
If you want to create projects like this, don't forget about the DSP special this month - it's a GREAT time to stock up on our beautiful designer papers:
