Yippeee! Today marks the 3-year anniversary of my blog and I'm really close to reaching 140,000 hits!  Thank you to everyone who comes to visit me and see what I'm up to - it means a lot!!

Celebrating a year of Fabulous Fridays with my Sisters in Stamping!!!!

The very best part of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator to me is the wonderful friendships I have made over the last 5 years with fellow demonstrators from all over the country.  A little over a year ago at the annual Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City my friends Karla Anders of Wisconsin (bottom right), Jacque Craig of Hawaii (bottom left) and Rachel Yurkanin of Pennsylvania (top left) and I decided to start a new blog called Sisters in Stamping in which we would post projects each week on Fridays featuring different Stampin' Up! products - I look forward each week to my Fabulous Friday assignment and challenge myself to step outside of my comfort zone to create an original project.  It helps me stay creative and I feel a little bit closer to my friends that I only get to see once or twice a year.  The photo above was taken at the Managers Reception in Phoenix back in January earlier this year - the last time the 4 of us were all together.

Gosh - favorite 80s moments? Where to start? LOL Well, some of them would be the heavy metal concerts I attended with 4 inch high hair, spiked accessories, and tons of makeup! How can you not love the movies from the 80's: Pretty In Pink, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Better of Dead, etc. And the music? I could go on and on. I think the whole decade was a favorite moment!

Lovin' the 80's for Fabulous Friday and some blog candy!!!

Hello again!  Sorry for my absence the last couple of days, but my kids are finally back in school and life is slowly returning to a normal routine.  The snow is still around, but fortunately we did not lose power during the icy weather and high winds earlier this week so I am feeling very blessed!

Having said that, welcome to another Fabulous Friday - we're featuring the "With All my Heart" stamp set from the Occasions mini catalog this week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog.  I decided to use this set in a non-Valentine's Day sort of way and chose some fun bright colors (bermuda bay and pink passion).  These colors screamed "the 80's!" to me so I decided to create a scrapbook page that I could use to capture some of my favorite memories from this super-fun decade of my life.  What do you think?  Does this page make you want to pull out your Calvin Klein skin-tight jeans, tease your hair and sing an old Flock of Seagulls song?!  I used to make fun of my parents for always reminiscing about the 50's and 60's and now I'm doing it to my kids with the 80's... I think they know more songs from the 80's than this decade!  I must say that my high school and college years were a lot of fun and I'm glad it was during this totally awesome time!!  I'm going to have fun putting this page together with photos and journaling.

Here are some close-ups of the embellishments on the page... I stamped "THE" from the stamp "Hi There" from Fundamental Phrases and cut it out because it was the largest "the" I could find in my stamp collection.  I then popped it on the heart since there wasn't enough room to cut this word out with my Big Shot.  I think it works...

Clean and Simple Stamping, sketch FTL76

I consider myself a simple stamper and am always on the lookout for simple sketches.  I came across the Clean and Simple Stamping blog site and really liked the sketch they released this week, FTL76, seen below.  This is not my style at all but it's good to try new things, isn't it?!

I decided to use my favorite Sending Love specialty DSP from the Occasions mini catalog. I have a lot of scraps so used a 1-1/4" square punch to create my card.  I pulled the colors from the paper - real red (1/4" grosgrain ribbon), very vanilla (card base) and pretty in pink (mat).  The "love you" sentiment from the Short & Sweet set is stamped in chocolate chip ink, pulling the last color into the card.  I punched out the little heart from another scrap of DSP from this paper pack using the small heart punch also available from the Occasions mini catalog.

What do you think?  I think I like it!  And what a great way to use up scraps of DSP!!

It is snowing like crazy here in Central Virginia and the Lynchburg Womens' Show that I was supposed to be participating in today at Liberty University got postponed until March 13th... it's a great reason to stay in, stay warm and stamp!! 

I have to share these funny pictures of my dogs playing in the snow... the first is of Beau, our Beagle.  The snow is about 9-10 inches deep so he's struggling.  Mika, our Golden Retriever, is loving it!  I can't let her stay out in it too long, though, remember the snowballs she picked up on her fur in December?

 

I don't have any pictures of my kids because they have gone down the street to play with some friends who have a better hill for sledding.  Maybe I can get some when they come home...
