I have been in a color slump lately, so decided to check out some color challenges that are out there in the blogging world. My sister Cindy passed this one on to me and I thought I would give it a try... it's called the Curtain Call Color Challenge on Stacey's Stamping Stage blog and each week there is a new Act (color combo). Here is this week's:
and here are my two submissions... I can't decide which one I like better!
This first card features the Flores Suaves stamp set from the Celebrando Creatividad Spanish edition of the Stampin' Up! catalog. Isn't it GORGEOUS?!? There is also a bee image in this set which I really like. If you'd like to order this set, please use the item number shown below, #112913. I added texture to the lavender lace mat with the SU! Backgrounds I texturz plate and my Big Shot - the swirls reminded me of the flight of a butterfly. I masked the flower after stamping it with Jet Black Stazon on a panel of whisper white and added the scripted background with pumpkin pie. I went back and colored the flower with stampin' write markers (lavender lace and garden green) and sponged the outside of the panel with pumpkin pie ink. The butterfly was also stamped with Stazon ink, but I used a blender pen and picked up color from my pumpkin pie ink pad to give the butterfly a softer look. It was then cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I finished the card by matting the stamped panel with both a pumpkin pie and garden green mat and ran a piece of ribbon across and tied it with a knot. There are dimensionals underneath the pumpkin pie mat to lift it off the ribbon that is run through that layer and the garden green beneath it.
My second card that I created features the Dreams du Jour stamp set. For some reason these colors reminded me of flowers and butterflies so I used both on my cards!
I had a little more white on this card - both the base layer and top layer, which I added the polka dot texture to with my Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dots textured impressions folder in the Occasions mini catalog. I stamped the main image on a whisper white panel with jet black StazOn ink and colored it with my pumpkin pie, lavender lace and garden green stampin' write markers. The corners with notched out with the ticket corner punch and was matted on lavender lace cardstock. I then added silver brads in all four corners. This piece was popped off the card with stampin' dimensionals so that my pumpkin 1/4" grosgain ribbon could be run underneath. I added a colored and cut out butterfly in the upper right-hand corner which was adhered with stampin' dimensionals and embellished with dazzling diamonds on the wings.

So what do you think? Which card better meets the color challenge? Please leave me a comment - I'd love the feedback!
As always, thanks for stopping by!!
