It's fabulous to spread Easter JOY!

Welcome to another edition of Fabulous Friday!  This week on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring Easter projects... did you realize that Easter is just 2 short weeks away? I created this altered Easter artwork using the Spring Fever Simply Scrappin' kit from the Occasions Mini catalog... I LOVE this kit!  The colors are bright and cheerful and there are so many fun embellishments that come in the kit.

Sandra hosted a workshop for me last night and she had asked for an Easter theme for the projects I demonstrated... I showed how to make this frame and then gave her one as a thank you gift.  She loved it!

Here is a close-up of the word "JOY" that I created with my Big Shot and the Serif Essentials alphabet dies.  I added texture to the letters once I cut them out using the Perfect Polka Dots impressions folder.  The "happy easter" sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen stamp set - my new favorite go-to set for holiday cards.

Here is a close-up of my Easter chick and one of the border strips from the Simply Scrappin' kit.  You may recognize this punch art chick from my jelly bean favor bag a few weeks ago.

To finish off the frame I added this bow made from daffodil delight 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon.  I gathered it and secured it with a very vanilla 5/8" brad and attached it with stampin' dimensionals directly to the frame.

Happy snow day!

Well it finally happened... we got our first snowfall of the season yesterday!  My kids were thrilled... we thought it was going to be a snow-less winter for us here in central Virginia.  Here are our dogs playing in the snow, Beau (the beagle) and Mika (the Golden Retriever) this morning.  We are all enjoying a no-school snow day here, lounging around in our jammies until swim practice this afternoon!! 

Kelsey and Brandon decided to have a snowball fight before the snow completely melts.  They're both sporting their Christmas hats - Kelsey's is a fun faux-hawk knit hat and Brandon's is the black Bomb Angry Bird.  Amanda opted to stay warm indoors, playing on Pinterest.  Teenagers!!

So on to the stamping... I held my Diva Day for my 4th quarter top 3 demonstrators this weekend, treating them to a brunch of bacon quiche, grape salad and mini eclairs on Saturday morning.  Everyone got half of the Spring Fever Simply Scrappin' kit from the Occasions mini catalog in an alterable canvas tote bag (I have found some awesome ideas for these on Pinterest!) along with an 8" x 10" picture frame and dry erase pen.  Our first project was to create a dry erase board using pieces from the Simply Scrappin' Kit along with various embellishments from my stamping stash with the picture frame (an idea first shared by my downline Angie Kinzie during our shoe box swap in December).  The second project was creating a fun fabric flower pin using the Twitterpated designer fabric from the Occasions mini catalog similar to the one we made at Leadership in Nashville last year.

Here are photos of my Divas, sporting the tiaras I picked up in San Antonio last month (thanks to Dawn Rapsas for sharing that idea!!) along with their finished projects.... so proud of the hard work these wonderful demonstrators did last quarter!  Who will be my Divas this quarter I wonder?

Here are some close-ups of my fabric flower... I love the trinket keys and beveled windowpanes... the stamp set used was Clearly for You and the shimmer comes from Moonlight smooch accent ink.  The fabric layers were cut with the Fun Flowers L bigz die and the First Edition DSP flowers were punched out using the 2-3/8" scallop flower punch.

Week 8 of the "12 Weeks of Christmas" project tutorials from Get Creative with Rachel and Debbie

Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Class

Have you seen the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' kit in the Summer Mini?  I love it!  I held a class last week and everyone who came received half of a kit along with a supply kit that included envelopes, ribbon, rings and thick window sheet pieces to create the cover and back of the mini scrapbook album.  The scallop square bigz die made it really easy to create multiple pages for the album at a time using the Big Shot.  With so many DSP and card stock pieces left over along with matching self-adhesive die-cuts it was easy to create a set of four cards in no time. 

Here are some more photos of a few of the pages I created for my book.  I love that the Fabulous Florets stamp set and coordinating Flower Garden textured impressions folder work so well with this Simply Scrappin' kit!

Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kits are Fabulous!

Our challenge this week on the Sisters in Stamping blog was to create a project for Fabulous Friday with a Simply Scrappin' kit.  I love these kits - they are so versatile and you can make so many projects with just one kit!!  I shared a bunch of projects that I made with just one Sunny Days kit a few months ago and you can view those here.

 

My project this week is an altered folder mini scrapbook album using the Sunny Days kit - I love the bright colors and fun images in this one!

Last round of projects using my Sunny Days kit

I have just a few more projects to share with you using my Sunny Days Simply Scrappin' kit.  If you've missed my previous posts, please go back to Friday's post when they began.  I managed to get quite a few different gift ideas out of one $19.95 kit!!

Here is an altered composition notebook... who couldn't use one of these?  I keep one as an inspiration journal and love that I can create a matching pen by using a scrap piece of DSP and inserting it into an RSVP pen (these have larger barrels so are easier to stick paper into).  I embellished the notebook with self adhesive die-cuts from the kit and scallop circle punches of scrap cardstock from the kit.  I must admit that the tempting turquoise binder is a half-sheet of cardstock that I had to pull from outside of the kit since I ran out of the textured tempting turquoise cardstock (they were used with my scrapbooking projects posted on Saturday). 

This is a post-it note holder made from a 4"x4" coaster (be sure and salvage yours when dining out) which is covered in Designer Paper using sticky strip and a small binder clip that I wrapped scrap DSP around (again using sticky strip to secure it).  Tie a piece of ribbon on and you're good to go with a quick and easy gift.  These are always a hit when I put them in my door prize basket at Open Houses... also a good way to use up retired DSP!!

This is an inexpensive 2-year monthly planner that I picked up at a discount store and covered with DSP.  A great thing to keep in your purse and the plastic cover protects the embellishments.

This is a mini notebook with pen that I picked up recently - check out how well the colors go with my DSP!  I plan to keep it in my purse (love how it matches my monthly planner) and have several in my supply to alter for teachers this Christmas along with some other hand-stamped goodies.

This is just a junior legal pad that I had and wanted to make look prettier - I just added a strip of DSP to the top.  It's great for keeping by the phone for messages.  I was going to make a cover with pocket for it, but ran out of textured cardstock in my kit large enough to do so... that's okay, it works "as is" for my purposes.

And here is what is left of my self-adhesive die-cut sheets... not much left (please ignore the shadow in the photo).  I couldn't figure out what to do with the cloud embellishments... that's for another day I guess.  The only pieces of cardstock and DSP that I had left were really just small scraps.  Amazing, isn't it?!  I am in love with these kits and plan to do a class making a lot of these projects in the Spring.  Let me know if you're interested!!!

More gift ideas with Sunny Days Simply Scrappin' kit

Thanks for visiting today... I have some gift ideas to share with you using the Sunny Days Simply Scrappin' Kit (to see more ideas, please check out my last 2 posts).

This first project is a portfolio which holds 5 different full-sized cards along with a matching pen.  They were all created using cardstock, Designer Papers and self-adhesive die-cuts from my kit.  The only exception is the whisper white cardstock for the bases of the cards and portfolio, the ribbon used to tie it all together and the stamp set used for the sentiment on two of the cards.

When you open the portfolio up, there are two inside pockets which hold the cards with their envelopes.  The ribbon serves a dual purpose - to tie the whole thing closed and also to hold the cards inside the pockets.  To create the portfolio, use a full sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock and score the long side at 5-1/2" (in half).  Rotate your cardstock 90 degrees and score the short side at 2-1/2" so that when shut the portfolio is 5-1/2" x 6".  I did trim the flaps at a slight angle to make closing it easier and punched the holes using my crop-a-dile.

Here is a picture of the 5 different cards I created.  There are all-occasion blank cards as well as a masculine and feminine birthday card.  I used the stamp set A Little Birthday Cheer for the sentiments and the modern label punch to cut them out.  Had I not wanted to use the Simply Scrappin' kit for a bunch of other projects, I could have made so many quick and easy cards.

Here is an altered mini clipboard...  I happened to have one in my supply of things to alter that I picked up at a discount store a while back.  I covered it with Designer Paper using sticky strip to hold it down and then embellished it with border pieces from the self-adhesive die-cut sheets and punched embellishments made from scraps from the kit.  I also covered the top of the mini legal pad with a scrap of Designer paper and border strip.  To finish the clipboard I added a knot of tempting turquoise ribbon to make it more fun and show off the holder so that the recipient would know that they could hang this clipboard on the wall on a nail.
