Robbin's Valentine's Day workshop projects

Robbin invited some of her friends and family over to my stamping studio earlier this week for a fun Valentine's Day workshop.  I demonstrated how to make the altered picture frame above and then gave it to her as part of her hostess gift for having the class.  The medallion was created using the new Designer Rosette Bigz XL die for the Big Shot currently featured in our Occasions Mini catalog.  I showed everyone how I created the embellishment as well as how the rest of the picture was put together.  Here are some close-ups below...

 

Another project that I demonstrated was this easy sour cream container which holds chocolates.  Do you remember seeing it in my post on Thursday when I shared Melody's party projects?  I love it when I can use a project for several stamping classes!!

The last thing I demonstrated was the emboss resist technique with this fun Valentine's Day card that I CASE'd from my good friend Karla Anders (it was her Fabulous Friday project for our Sisters in Stamping blog yesterday - she gave me a sneak peek earlier!!).  This was also the make-n-take for all the guests who attended.  The colors include cherry cobbler, pink pirouette and whisper white along with the Sprinkled Exressions Sale-a-Bration stamp set (FREE with a qualifying $50 order!).

Robbin's workshop projects

Robbin and her daughter Shannon invited their friends and family over for a fun evening of stamping on Tuesday and everyone got to make two hand-stamped cards.  Robbin had requested a Mother's Day card for one of the make-n-takes and I wanted to feature the Four Frames stamp set that is part of our sneak peek "Spring is Blossoming" promotion this month.  Using the "Happy Mother's Day" stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set I chose the polka dotted frame stamp and even had enough room to put a little 2-step stamped rose from the Baby Blossoms set from the Occasions Mini on there.

I came up with several other samples for those who didn't want to make a Mother's Day card and had that available for inspiration.  Several of the ladies had never used blender pens for coloring and were excited about how easy they are to use with our ink pads, smooshing them to deposit ink on the lid.  I had rose red, pretty in pink, pear pizzazz and old olive ink pads along with a Jet Black StazOn ink pad in the box of supplies.  This card layout idea featuring the Elegant Lines impressions folder was one I CASEd that was originally created by Amy Fitzgerald.

For the birthday card, I used a card that I had created for Jodi's workshop back in February.  Robbin had recently purchased the Brights Collection ink pads and card stock at her daughter Margo's workshop last month and I wanted to have a card that she could duplicate.  I love the bright and fun colors on this card, featuring the Create a Cupcake stamp set and matching Build a Cupcake punch.  Both of these products are in our Occasions Mini catalog - if you want them, be sure and purchase them before the end of April when the Mini ends!!

Fabulous Spring is Blossoming promotion

Today is April 1st and marks the beginning of our Spring is Blossoming promotion - you'll get a sneak peek of two wonderful products that won't be available for purchase after this month until the new catalog debuts in July - the stamp set is Four Frames and is designed to work with our XL decorative label punch and the gorgeous Designer Series Paper is called Paisley Petals.  This is no April Fool's Day joke - you're going to want to host a workshop of $350 to earn these for FREE or place a qualifying $20 order so you can purchase them!

This week on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are focusing on these two great products for our projects.  I came up with this 12" x 12" scrapbook page featuring both.

The "JOY" title was placed on this beautiful piece of designer paper.  I cut out the letters from chocolate chip card stock using my Big Shot and the Serif Essentials bigz dies.  Once cut, I ran them back through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice impressions folder to give them some texture.  There is another piece of this DSP underneath the organza ribbon next to the daisy flower (also cut out with the Big Shot).

Here is one of the stamps from the Four Frames set stamped in marina mist ink - the definition of "memories" from the Define Your Life stamp set fits perfectly in the bird frame. 

I really like how this scrapbook page turned out and decided to come up with a similar 6x6 page for workshops in April.  The border strip is another piece of the DSP from the Paisley Petals pack - they are all so gorgeous!  This one features cherry cobbler as a prominent color so I stamped the definition with cherry cobbler ink and created a photo mat featuring that color.

Margo's workshop projects

It has been another busy week as we head into the end of Sale-a-Bration (tomorrow is the LAST day you can earn any of these exclusive offerings with your qualifying $50 order!) and I apologize for not posting in a few days.  I wanted to share the cards from Margo's workshop last weekend.  She invited her friends and family over for a fun afternoon of cardmaking and everyone had a great time making two cards.  Margo loves the vintage style so I pulled out an old favorite - Elements of Style - for one of the make-n-takes.  This card features the color scheme of not quite navy and naturals ivory - so beautiful in real life!  Because our inks are water-soluble dye ink, when you stamp an image with it you can then spread the color to mimic watercoloring just by using a blender pen.  This card came together so quickly - the not quite navy mat was run through the Big Shot with the Framed Tulips impression folder found in the Occasions mini catalog and then the sentiment from Sincere Salutations was stamped on a strip of naturals ivory card stock and then punched out with the XL decorative label punch also found in the Occasions mini.  I love using the Sincere Salutations stamp set because all of the sentiments are the same size so everyone can customize their cards to whatever they need - this color scheme and image lends itself very nicely for a birthday, thank you and thinking of you card. 

The little bow made from the very vanilla seam binding ribbon is a fork bow - everyone loved learning how to make these and are now on the hunt for a large 4-tined serving fork!!  The finishing touch on the card is the dazzling diamonds added to some of the flowers with a 2-way glue pen... imagine my horror and embarrassment when I realized that I left this key element AT HOME, a 30 minute drive away!  Luckily, everyone was very understanding of my oversight and Margo's daughter saved the day when she found some glitter in her bedroom for everyone to use.   Yes, even though I have been a demonstrator for six years there are still times when I pack for a workshop and leave an item at home.  I felt so bad but everyone was very understanding, thankfully!

Here is the second card - Margo had requested an Easter card that was more spiritual than cutesy in nature.  I love the Crosses of Hope stamp set and chose a color scheme of basic gray, blushing bride and whisper white.  The strip of DSP is from the In Color stack and is embellished with the scallop trim border punch.  The cross was stamped with basic gray ink and then the flowers were colored in with a blushing bride stampin' write marker.  The "Easter Wishes" sentiment is from the All Holidays stamp set and a sentiment for the inside of the card is from God's Blessings.

Love Impressions and Valentine Defined - a Fabulous pair!

Our assignment for this week for Fabulous Friday on the Sisters In Stamping blog was to use our favorite stamp set from the Occasions Mini catalog... how do I pick?  I love so many of them!!  I finally decided on the Valentine Defined set because I was immediately drawn to the flamingo pair image the first time I viewed the catalog.  I'm kind of in a Valentine mood anyway, with it coming in just a few weeks!  I also had to use the Love Impressions specialty DSP - it is so fun!  And for some reason I am totally into pocket cards right now, so that is what I came up with this week.   They are so easy to create - cut your card stock in half - 11" x 4-1/4" - and then score at 5-1/2" and also at 9-1/2".  The pull out card measures 5-1/4" x 3-3/8". 

In addition to the stamp set and DSP from the Occasions mini I just had to include the red glimmer paper (notice the heart on the pull tab?).  For a full list of products used with today's project, please see below.
