Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by today! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring Father's Day cards for Fabulous Friday. I drew inspiration for my card from a color combination that I found in my Color Coach - soft suede, daffodil delight and pool party - it just reminded me of a sunny day at the beach walking on the pier!
If you ever have color-block or feel like you're in a color rut, the Color Coach is amazing! There are tons of color combinations like the ones above plus on the reverse of each is a full card of color - you can mix and match on your own like when you're at the paint store.
Here's another shot of my card - it features the Hardwood, By the Seashore and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets. I love how my background turned out.. I used soft suede ink with the image and stamped it onto sahara sand card stock. I sponged the edges with soft suede ink and ran the sponge randomly over the "planks" of wood. Looks pretty realistic, doesn't it?! My husband is the Director of Sales for a lumber company that specializes in Appalachian hardwoods and I hope he likes this card... luckily for me he does't follow my blog!
Here's one more shot of the card - I just love the texture that the linen thread brings to this masculine card, too - very nautical looking without looking froofy (is that a word?!). I stamped the sand dollar first with soft suede ink and then stamped the shell with pool party and cut it out to mount on the card. I sponged it lightly to give it some dimension before attaching it.
