  Here is the first card - I used a card sketch that I found on Pinterest (see my board here).  I love how the little birds can be easily cut out from one of the patterns of DSP and added to a card.  I used Boho Blue for the card base and mats and Garden Green ink for the sentiment.

 

 

  Here is the second card using yet another card sketch I pinned.  Isn't this bird image from the DSP beautiful? Colors used with this one are Flirty Flamingo and Garden Green. 

 

 

   For the last card I used yet another card sketch from my Pinterest board. This one really lets the pattern of the DSP shine and I pulled the Fresh Freesia and Midnight Muse colors from the pattern!

Sunday Fun Day: Heartfelt Hexagon card

  Hello and Happy Monday!  Another late posting, sorry... this week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring projects featuring hearts in honor of the Valentine's Day holiday coming up this week. I decided to make a birthday card using some fun heart-themed items.  I took my inspiration for the color theme from chocolate-covered strawberries: early espresso, flirty flamingo and sweet sorbet.

  I like the hearts in this DSP, but there are some patterns that include some beautiful gold foil.   I am not sure why this photo turned out this way, but I promise you that the inside piece is basic white card stock. I stamped the sentiment and some of the smaller images using early espresso and flirty flamingo ink.

Sunday Fun Day: Enduring Beauty card set

  Hello and Happy Monday!  Another late posting, sorry... this week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring florals and I made this card (and a few others as you will see below). Isn't it simple but pretty?!  I don't know why, but it is much more vibrant in real life.

  Here are all 5 cards that I made using the Enduring Beauty stamp set and coordinating decorative masks  from the new Spring mini catalog along with the Double Oval punch and Very Best Occasions stamp set from the annual catalog.  Flower colors for the other cards are:  Daffodil Delight, Bubble Bath, Boho Blue and Highland Heather.  Be sure to click the links above to check out these items.   This is what the Decorative Masks look like. I love that they are numbered and have a notch in a corner so you can mark your place on grid paper for ease of lining them up. I used small blending brushes to sponge on the color (see the result in the second photo).  If you notice, I marked on the grid paper where I placed my card stock so it would be easy to line up the masks for the other cards. I was lazy and didn't feel like cleaning them between all the colors so started with the lightest color and worked my way to the darkest, cleaning off the excess ink with a dry tissue in between colors. The masks are numbered so you layer on color in steps... first filling in the biggest and then adding detail.  I used Old Olive ink for the leaves on all 5 cards. And by using the same color of ink on the two layers, they blended better I think. 

 

 

  Here is a close-up of the Sweet Sorbet card. You can clearly see the detail on the leaves and it is more subtle on the flowers. I don't know if you can see it in the photo, but I used a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush to "color" over the centers of the flowers.

 

 

   Here are larger  images of the other cards I made. Which color is your favorite?  I left these others without a sentiment so it gives me more versatility... I can add whatever I want when the need arises.  The Sweet Sorbet birthday card is for a co-worker who has a Leap Year birthday - how cool is that?

 

 

  For all 5 cards I stamped a portion of the large flowers image in the lower left corner and can add an inside sentiment later when needed.

Sunday Fun Day: Cutest Cows bundle birthday card

  Hello and Happy Monday - sorry for the delay in getting this posted but it's been a tough couple of weeks as I have been getting over being sick.    This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring some of the fantastic bundles found in the Spring mini catalog. With 28 different bundles to choose from (at a savings of 10%!!) I had a hard time narrowing it down to just one, but the Cutest Cows won me over!

  Today's card features the Cutest Cows bundle from the new Spring mini catalog along with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch.  I also used the Bright & Beautiful DSP from the annual catalog as well as the 2022-2024 In Color Baker's Twine for the bow.  Be sure to click the links above to check out these items.     Here is a close-up of the cow - isn't it the cutest? The punch perfectly cuts out both the body and the head. You can mix and match the eyes on the cows to give them different expressions, too... how fun!  I colored the cow's spots with the light Pecan Pie stampin' blend marker and the cow's body with the light Crumb Cake stampin' blend marker. The hooves and inner parts of the ears were colored with the dark Crumb Cake stampin' blend marker.  I glued them to a piece of whisper white CS cut out using the Heartfelt Hexagon punch. To make it pop off the Azure Afternoon base card, I cut out another one from Fresh Freesia CS and cut it in half and glued it to the back. The piece was finished off with a bow tied using the Parakeet Party baker's twine. All colors were pulled from the DSP (except for the coloring on the cow). I love how easy Stampin' Up! makes it by giving us awesome color palettes. 

 

 

   For the inside of the card I used another cow image from the set as well as two sentiments and the milk container. Who doesn't want to milk their birthday for all its worth?!  I'd be celebrated all month long if I could get away with it!

    One sheet of the DSP has a bunch of birds that are perfect for fussy-cutting. I did that for the bird that I mounted on the hexagon stamped panel. I pulled the colors for my card from the birdie - fresh freesia and midnight muse Aren't they beautiful together?  I wanted to add some twine because it looks like something a bird would use for its nest. I doubled it around the card and added a bow to keep it simple. 

 

 

   I used a sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon bundle for the inside of the card and a little strip of the DSP to carry the pattern into the inside of the card.

Sunday Fun Day: Quick & Easy Beary Christmas card

  Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing Quick & Easy (QE) Christmas card ideas. If you're like me, you're really behind, and these are great for sending to friends and family! Between our move and being super busy in my full-time job, it has been really hard to get cards made.  Thanks to the super cute Beary Christmas bundle and DSP, I was able to make a bunch yesterday!! I was in such a zone that I wrote in them all and put them in envelopes already, completely forgetting to take a photo of the bunch.

 

  The Beary Christmas DSP along with the coordinating Beary Cute stamp set and matching Bear punch make putting QE cards together a breeze! I cut out a bunch of bears from one piece of the DSP (using my punch when able) and paired them with other patterns in the pack.   I just love the colors in this DSP! I used Night of Navy as my base card with a mat of Very Vanilla CS.  The snowflake pattern is so fun, don't you think? The Christmas sentiment is from the stamp set and I stamped it on a scrap strip of Very Vanilla CS. 

 

 

   Here is a close-up of the polar bear - I fussy cut it and popped him up with dimensionals. So cute!

 

 

  And here is one more look at my card today. I would share the inside (I stamped a polar bear in the bottom left corner with Night of Navy ink and added a sentiment with Real Red ink), but had already written in it so am not sharing, sorry. Sunday Fun Day: Beary Cute Christmas gift tags

  Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing Christmas gift tag ideas. I decided to make little 3"x 3" note cards that could hang on a gift bag or bottle of wine (see those ideas shown at the bottom of this post).  I just love this Beary Christmas suite in the Holiday catalog and am so sad it is retiring at the end of the month!  Do you remember the Coca-Cola polar bear commercials from a few years back? That is what these bears remind me of when I look at them... so cute! Read on for more details about my project today...

 

  Today's gift tags feature the Beary Christmas DSP along with the coordinating Beary Cute stamp set and matching Bear punch.   These two gift tags feature a Real Red card stock base (6" x 3" scored at 3") with a 2-3/4" square mat cut from Very Vanilla card stock and a 2-1/2" square panel cut from Balmy Blue card stock.  I pulled the colors from the DSP, which always makes it easy!  These particular images were on the bottom of a sheet of the DSP and were cut off... I fussy cut them and added them to the card fronts and you can't even tell they aren't a whole image. So when you have DSP with great images like these, don't hesitate to use the partial images too!  I added a sentiment strip to each (Merry Christmas is from the Beary Cute set) inked with Real Red and stamped on Very Vanilla card stock. The snowflakes on the left tag are also in this stamp set and inked with Balmy Blue ink.

 

 

    For these two cards, I used Mossy Meadow card stock for my base cards. The inside of all four is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut the same size as the mat on the front (2-3/4" square). I don't know if you can see it, but these bears were soooo easy to cut out because the Bear punch matches perfectly with the images!! How awesome is that?!

 

 

  And here are some examples of how you can use these little gift tags - the top is simply tied onto a gift bag and the second shows where you can tie these onto the neck of a bottle of wine. Sunday Fun Day: Monochromatic sympathy card

  Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing cards with a monochromatic color theme. I decided to go with an array of browns to make a sympathy card that was more masculine. Sadly, I needed one to send tomorrow to a friend and former downline who lost her father-in-law this week. It's always sad to lose loved ones around a holiday and I hope that Thanksgiving won't be too painful for them next year.

 

 

  Today's card features the the Hope You Know and Oceanfront stamp sets. I kept this card very minimalist to give it an artsy feel, but also because it is to express sorrow for the death of a man. I usually use flower images with sympathy cards, but thought this was more appropriate. To purchase these sets or anything else, be sure to hop over to my Stampin' Up! store.   The colors used with today's card include Copper Clay (an In Color this year), Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Pecan Pie. The stamped panel as well as the base card mat are Very Vanilla card stock which works well with these shades of brown. I really love the Oceanfront stamp set - it makes me feel like an artist when I put the images together!  I wanted just a simple sentiment on the front of the card, and used one from the Hope You Know set inked with Early Espresso on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock that I added to the top of the stamped panel. 

 

 

    For the inside of the card, I used two of the coordinating sentiments from the Hope You Know set inked with the Early Espresso stamp pad. I also included the sea grass image in the lower left corner that I inked with Copper Clay stamp pad.
